Obituary

Cledith Ray Davenport Jr., age 79, of Broken Bow, passed away on Dec. 14 at his home.

Davenport was born on March 1, 1940 in Chula, Missouri to parents Cledith Ray Sr. and Helen Manning Davenport.

He graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Forestry.

On Feb. 6, 1965 he married Elaine Ghilardi in Kansas City, MO.

The newlyweds moved to Coos Bay, Oregon, in 1966, as Cledith accepted a job there with the Weyerhaeuser Company. In 1967, they relocated to Broken Bow where he worked for Dierks which later became Weyerhaeuser. He also worked for Herron, Hurliman, and Mixon Brothers Forestry Companies in McCurtain County.

For eight years, Cledith proudly served his country in the Missouri National Guard.

Also, he was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Broken Bow where he served as an elder.

Cledith enjoyed woodworking in his workshop, recycling his treasures, riding his tractor and working his land, as well as spending time with his family, church family and his two little dogs, Beaver and Junie.

In his younger years he enjoyed being an active member of the Boy Scouts of America as Scoutmaster to Troop 336. One of his favorite highlights was when he took his troop to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. He also enjoyed playing softball with the Church League Softball Team. For many years he had the only Christmas Tree Farm in the county.

Davenport leaves to cherish his memory his wife Elaine of the home, sons Wade Quintin Davenport, Grand Prairie, Texas; Aaron Matthew Davenport and wife Tawsha, Broken Bow, OK; daughter Holly Ann Marnell and husband Ryan, Jenks, OK; Grandchildren Katie Hardin, Woodward, OK; Jordyn Hardin, Valliant, OK; Lauren Marnell, Jenks, Ok; Merrick Davenport, Broken Bow, OK; Josie Davenport, Grand Prairie, TX; step-grandchildren Isabella West, and wife Talina, Maryville, MO; Alyssa Hubbard, Broken Bow, OK; Collin Hubbard, Broken Bow; Tate Hubbard and wife Destiney, and son Ray, Broken Bow, OK,

He also leaves a host of family and special friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 3PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Broken Bow. Refreshments will be served immediately after for fellowship and the telling of "Cledith stories".

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Broken Bow.
