William “Bob” Finley, of Sawyer, OK, was born on August 11, 1956 in Hugo, OK. He passed from this life on September 1, 2020 at the age of 64.
Bob was a lifelong resident of the McCurtain, Pushmataha, and Choctaw county areas. He was prominent in the community as an educator and school administrator. He was the assistant vice principal at Antlers High School for fourteen wonderful years, as well as the Industrial Arts teacher. He also served as principal of Wright City High School for eighteen years prior to his retirement. He loved kids and wanted to see them succeed in their lives. He was always reaching out to those kids who were struggling and needing a helping hand. Also, he always wanted to be surrounded by “wonderful people” because he believed that was the way to succeed in administration. Bob also loved to hunt and fish. To him, being in the great outdoors was a way to cure most of life’s problems. His loving family remembers him as being most comfortable at “The Cabin”.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Era Finley; stepmother, Reba Finley; and sister, Joanna Cupit.
