Ronald Harry Benton, 70, of Sherwood, went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2021 in Little Rock, AR. Ronald was born May 20, 1950 in Sherwood, to Harry Wilson and Irene Elsie (Seymour) Benton.
Ronald had lived in Sherwood all his life. He worked at Weyerhaeuser/International Paper and retired at 49. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and farming. He was known to instigate and as a jokester to most and he was always looking for a deal. Ronald was skilled at redneck ingenuity. He most of all loved his family. He was always willing to help anyone who asked or needed help. Ronald was proudly known as Pop Pop to two great girls despite the reluctant nickname at first.
Ronald married Linda Snow in 1983 in Idabel, OK.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Irene Benton; mother and father-in-law, Robert and Lona Snow; brothers-in-law, Frank Plemmons, Dan Herndon, and Edward and Della Bullard; his grandparents; and a nephew.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda Benton, of the home; children, Ashley Benton, of Durant, and Kyle Benton, and wife, Sara, of Sherwood; grandchildren, Kyra Benton and Madison Benton, both of Sherwood; brother, Wylie Benton, and wife, Coque of Roland, OK; sisters, Elsie Watson, and husband, Sammy, of Battiest, and Linda Plemmons, of Idabel; many nieces and nephews; along with extended family, neighbors, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday at 2PM at the Hochatown Assembly of God Church with Rodney Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7PM at the funeral home.
