Phillip Franklin Stephens, age 86, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died Friday, August 20, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Sunday, January 6, 1935 to Herschel Franklin and Lillian Beatrice Drake Stephens in Essex, Missouri.
Phillip was a man that was a predictably unpredictable person, that loved serving others in their time of need and was a very charitable, wise and funny man. Phillip loved his family and they loved him dearly. Phillip enjoyed making a garden every year and watching it grow. He was a carpenter for over 40 years of his life and was called upon to help add rooms, fix roofs, and build porches for countless friends and family. Phillip was a loving partner, father, grandfather, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Herschel Stephens and Mark Stephens, and thirteen brothers and sisters.
He is survived by best friend and partner, Patricia Maness of Broken Bow; four sons, Philip Stephens of Greenfield, Michigan, Michael Crider of Wappapello, Missouri, John Crider of Apopka, Florida and Philip Stephens Jr. of Popular Bluff, Missouri; six daughters, Debbie James of Buda, Texas, Darla Padron of Buda, Texas, Evelyn Kemp of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Peggy Sue Crider of Popular Bluff, Missouri, Phileatha Stephens of Buda, Texas and Bonita Lewis of Buda, Texas; sisters, Darlene Alligood of Sikeston, Missouri, Martha Wilkening of Sikeston, Missouri and Vonna Smith of Hope, Arkansas; 33 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Stephens officiating. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
