Mildred Wells

April 26, 2021

Mildred Jene Wells, age 86, of Broken Bow passed from this life on April 26, 2021 at Paris Regional Medical Center.  She was born December 21, 1934 to Herman and Ollie Mae Lewis in Watson, OK.  She lived all her life in McCurtain County.

Mildred married Albert Jim Wells Jr. on December 23, 1947 at the age of 15 in DeQueen, AR.  She and Albert spent a wonderful 35 years together before his passing in 1982.

Mildred’s family says she was the matriarch, the heart and soul of the family.  She was the kind of person who always uplifted and inspired others.  Mildred was hardworking, honest, and fair.  Her door was always open to anyone.  She was “our rock”.  The one word that her family would use to describe their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother is “HOME”.

Mildred enjoyed cooking, drinking coffee, and working outside in her yard growing flowers.  She also enjoyed going to the casino, playing nickel slot machines and her social time at the casino with her sisters.

Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her parents, Herman and Ollie Mae Lewis; granddaughter, Amber Dawn Wells; great granddaughter, Samara Wallis; several brothers and sisters.

Left to cherish Mildred’s memory are her children, Darnette and Larry Taylor, of Albion, RD and Sherrie Wells, Danny and Roxanne Wells, and Jannette Wells, all of Broken Bow, Ronnie and Gerri Wells, of Watson, and Herman and Trish Wells, of Eagletown; brother, Cecil Lewis, of Broken Bow; sisters, Mackelene Clements and Charlene Battiest, both of Broken Bow; grandchildren, Melissa and Chet Patel, of Broken Bow, Duane and Kelly Wells, of Houston, Mitch and Tina Wells, of Idabel, Damon and Tanya Wells, of Broken Bow, Chris Wells and Jeremy Wells, both of Broken Bow, Brandy Wells, of Smithville, Cody and Rebecca Marie Wells, of Aberden, South Dakota, Jessica Wells and Briar Frady, of Haworth, Kyle Wells, of Smithville, and Terry Sprayberry, of Eagletown; host of great grandchildren, Ravid Patel, Joshua Patel, Ashley Patel, Caleb Leonard, Cason Leonard, Carter Leonard, Racyn Sprayberry, Kaitlyn Wells, Samantha Wells, Devin Wells, Benjamin Wells, Josey Wells, Hannah Wells, Braydon Wells, Jaylynn Wells Barnes, Kayden Wells, Bramble Frady, Ryleigh Ryals, and Violet Ryals; along with many other relatives and friends.
