Obituary

Melrose V. Scroggins, 77, of Broken Bow, passed from this life on March 10, 2021 at Broken Bow Health and Rehab.  Melrose was born June 28, 1943 in Los Angeles, CA, to L.T. and Lora (Martin) Wood.

Melrose had lived all her life in McCurtain County and was a member of the Choctaw Baptist Church, in Garvin.  She enjoyed cooking, being her children, and reading her Bible.  Melrose loved to knit and crochet.  Most knew Melrose as a funny person; always joking around with others.

She married the love of her life, Sherrill Scroggins, Sr. on April 19, 1961 in Wright City, OK.  They shared a happy life together until his passing in 2000.

Melrose was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill; parents, L.T. and Lora Wood; sons, Sam and Derick Scroggins; grandchildren, Derick Lee Scroggins and Kyson Wilson.

Melrose is survived by her children, Rose Scroggins, of Durant, Sherrill Scroggins, Jr., of Hochatown, Daniel Scroggins, of Ft. Benning, GA, and Betty Hamm (Dwight Hamm Sr.), of Idabel, also, Chirlyn Rae Scroggins, of CO, and Brenda Scroggins, of Paris, TX; brother, Norman Tacka, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Sam Jr., Derick, Kayla, Dakota, Chelsie, Buddy, Boo Boo, Jeremiah, Avery, and several step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her wonderful family and friends from the Broken Bow Health and Rehab; along with other friends and family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, March 15, 2021 at 2:00PM at the Wheelock Cemetery with Pastor Randy Watkins officiating.
