Joan Elizabeth Shields, 76, of Broken Bow, OK, made her heavenly journey July 11, 2021 at her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was born September 15, 1944 to J.C. and Ethel Vandiver in Broken Bow.
Joan had a smile and laugh that would light up the room. She never met a stranger. Joan loved her family immensely and cherished time spent with them. She loved singing Country and Gospel music, Loretta Lynn being her favorite. She also enjoyed crocheting and winning Skipbo against her family and special friend Virginia Copeland. Joan had a one of a kind personality that could brighten even the darkest of days. She was the glue and rock of her family and will be greatly missed.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents J.C. and Ethel Vandiver, daughter Heliena Sampson, husband Bob Shields, brothers Cecil, Jimmy, and Gary Vandiver, brothers Butch and Roger Hester, sister Aundrea Keener, special daughter Kellee Tucker, great grandson Steven Helms, and father of her children Johnny Tucker.
She leaves to cherish her memory son Kenny Tucker of Tatum, NM, son Steve and wife Jackie Tucker of Broken Bow, OK, daughter Anjanette and husband Ricky Shields of Garvin, OK, sister Linda Rudisill of Broken Bow, OK, brother Terry and wife Linda Hester of Idabel, OK, brother Ricky Hester of Broken Bow, OK, sister Sheree and husband Greg Cannon of Cove, AR, 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter, special friends Nina Byler, Virginia Copeland, and Patsy Baker, special granddaughter Meagan Upton, and a host of family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Friday at 2PM at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday from 6PM ~ 8PM also at the funeral home.
