Jerry Walthall of Broken Bow passed away in Paris, TX on June 19, 2021. Jerry was born to J.V. and Mildred Walthall on May 24, 1947 in Ft Worth, TX. The family moved to Broken Bow when Jerry was seven years old.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Pratt, on December 22, 1966. Shortly afterward, he served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving a tour of duty in Vietnam.
To say Jerry was an avid fisherman would be an understatement. He started fishing with a cane pole when he was a young child and never looked back. After “retiring” from Tyson Foods he started his own fishing guide service, which combined his two favorite pastimes – fishing and talking to people. Jerry served as the president of Tri Lakes Bass Club since its inception in the early 1990s. On the rare occasion he wasn’t on the lake, he was spending time with his family. He especially loved being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Time with the family was usually spent playing a game of dominoes (which he always won), playing checkers, or watching westerns. Jerry loved working with kids. He hosted the Tri Lakes Bass Club’s kids’ tournament every year. He also spent many years coaching little league sports.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, J.V. and Mildred Walthall.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Wanda, of the home; daughter Jamie Walthall of Ft Worth, TX; son Robert “Bubba” Walthall of Broken Bow; grandchildren Kayla (Jimmy) Cox of Moore, OK and Kerrie Camp (Michael Pennington) of Broken Bow; great-grandchildren Haden, Hadlie, and Ridge Jenkins and Wrynlee and Isaac Cox. He also leaves behind a host of friends, family, and fishing buddies.
A Celebration of Life services will be Thursday, June 24 at 10:00am at Brumley Funeral Home. Pastor Dexter Cogburn officiating. Burial will take place at Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 23 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the Brumley Funeral Home chapel.
