Janie McAnally was born in Broken Bow on January 20, 1938. She passed from this life on July 25, 2020 in Paris, TX at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Kenneth McAnally.
Janie graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1955. She and Kenneth made their home in Wilburton, New Mexico, and Texarkana before settling down in Broken Bow. Janie’s career started early in life in her dad’s grocery store, Wood’s Meat Market, where she waited on customers, stocked supplies, and delivered groceries. She was employed by several local businesses prior to a 15-year career with Weyerhaeuser. Janie’s passion as an artist inspired her to open “Jane’s Ceramics”, where she sold ceramic pieces and taught classes. Her talents, as an artist, were truly inspiring. She was passionate about her animal babies, gardening, DIY home projects, painting, sewing, quilting, and traveling. Her hands were rarely still. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t accomplish once her mind was set.
Janie was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Broken Bow. She was fiercely loyal, kind and compassionate. She loved her family.
Janie is survived by three children (and spouses/fiance): Sherlyn and Lorenzo Estrada of Lake Mary, Florida, Steve and Charlotte McAnally of Hugo, Oklahoma, and Cindy McAnally and Ted Wagner of Fort Worth, Texas; two grandsons (and spouse): Scott Batson, and Craig and Geena McAnally; five great-grandchildren: Victoria, Aaliyah and Lexcie Batson, Chris and Braeden McAnally; 12 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Janie is also survived by sister Lou Forwoodson of Wilberton, Oklahoma, brothers (and spouses) Jerry and Shirley Wood of Clayton, Oklahoma, Gary and Donna Wood of Erie, Kansas, and sister-in-law Brenda Wood of Lukfata, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by parents Charles Sr. and Georgia Belle Wood of Broken Bow, brother Charles Wood Jr. of Lukfata, and brother-in-law De Roy Forwoodson of Wilberton.
Janie will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
