James Quintus Maytubby, age 63, of Durant, Oklahoma, formally of Wright City, Oklahoma, died Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the Alliance Health in Durant, Oklahoma. He was born on Sunday, February 9, 1958 to Williston Sr. and Cinderella Cindy Battiest Maytubby in De Queen, Arkansas.
James was a storyteller and and talking to people. He took great comfort in hearing his mother sing the old gospel hymns of his childhood. James loved his family and enjoyed coaching them in baseball and softball; that was one of his greatest enjoyments in life was to see his children play ball. He loved to break in baseball gloves; OU Football and the Atlanta Braves. James was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
James was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Watson; one sister, Avis Blackman and one nephew, Jonathan Martinez.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Maytubby of Durant, Oklahoma; two sons and daughter in law, Chris and Teola Maytubby of Calera, Oklahoma and Dominic Jones of Durant, Oklahoma; two daughters and son in law, Tina and Pete Carney of Eagletown, Oklahoma and MaKayla Maytubby of Durant, Oklahoma; three brothers and sisters in law, Vince and Melissa Maytubby of Wright City, Oklahoma, Lance and Karen Maytubby of Calera, Oklahoma and Williston Jr. and Bonnie of Hugo, Oklahoma; two sisters and brothers in law, Mayda and Tom Largo of Scottsdale, Arizona and Liz and Lloyd Lee of Durant, Oklahoma; his brother in law, Daniel Blackman of Holly Springs; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Chihowa I Chuka Church in Wright City, Oklahoma with Reverend Vince Maytubby officiating. Interment will follow in the Slater Cemetery in Wright City, Oklahoma. A wake service will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 for 6-8 P.M. at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Arrangements are entrusted to Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Tim Lee, Matthew Martinez, Tyler Carney, Pete Carney, L.J. Maytubby and Kolton Blackman.
