JL Maness, 87, of Broken Bow, passed from this life November 11, 2020 in Texarkana. JL was born September 12, 1933 in Mt. Herman to James Homer Maness and Vivian O'Dell (Laxton) Maness-Croy.
JL had lived most of his life in Broken Bow and was proud to have served this country in the United States Army. JL loved to hunt, fish, but mostly dance with his wife. They could always be found on a dance floor somewhere. JL enjoyed telling stories and drinking coffee with his friends and family. He was known to have told a few stories of his brick laying days. JL started brick laying in 1968. He also retired from the Kiamichi Vo-Tech in 1995 as a masonry instructor. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and having family near.
JL married the love of his life Sandra Piper on September 21, 1960 in Hugo, OK. They shared a wonderful 52 years together until her passing in 2012.
JL was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; his parents, Lum and Vivian Croy; sisters, Emma McKeever, Juanita Shaw, and Alice Murphy; brothers, Lonnie and Derrell Maness.
JL is survived by his loving children, David Maness, and wife, Cindy, of Broken Bow, Darin Maness, and wife, Krystal, of Moyers, Dustin Maness, and wife, Tandy, of Broken Bow, and DeeDee Maness, of Broken Bow; brother, Sherrell Maness, and wife, Nona, of Augusta, KS; grandchildren, Jennifer Emery, Courtney Richards, Dillon Maness, Whitney Willeby, Quinton Maness, Dalton Maness, DaNella Maness, Rhianna Maness, and Savannah Willeby; 11 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Curtis Shaw; many nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives; and many special friends, including Nina Underwood.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, 10AM, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with Joyce Lumen officiating. Burial will follow at Hochatown Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8PM also at the funeral home.
