Rev. Edgar “Ed” Clark, Jr. met His Heavenly Father on June 15, 2020 in Seward, Alaska, at the age of 60.
Ed was born on November 23, 1959 in Orange, Texas to parents Ed and Dorothy, the sixth of seven siblings. He graduated from Buna High School in 1978 and received an associate’s degree in architecture from Lamar University in 1981. He married his wife Sherry in 1985. He pursued numerous careers that took him from the oil fields of Alaska’s North Slope to a tractor dealership in Valliant, OK, before accepting the call on his life for vocational ministry. Ed pastored at three churches: Moon Church of God in Moon, OK, Green Chapel Assembly of God in Wright City, OK, and Eagle’s Nest Assembly of God in Seward, AK.
While preaching the Word, Ed continued to work as a tractor mechanic, commercial hay bailer, and carpenter. Many beautiful structures in Oklahoma, Alaska, and Equatorial Guinea, Africa stand as a testament to his craft. Having found many joyous hobbies throughout his life, Ed made innumerable friends while camping, bowling, shooting, riding motorcycles, and playing softball. He was an avid outdoorsman, teaching his children to camp, hunt, fish, and ride. He was always eager to share stories about ongoing mission projects in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, and made three journeys to the island.
Ed was a loving husband to his wife of thirty-five years, and a devoted father to not only his own children, but to every person he met who needed a dad. Everyone who knows Ed, knows he never met a stranger. But above all, Ed was passionate about introducing people to Jesus.
He is survived by his wife Sherry Clark of Seward, AK, daughter and son-in-law Kelli and Derek Reed of Anchorage, AK, son Kevin Clark of Seward, AK, brother Bill and sister-in-law Nancy Clark of Wright City, OK, brother Robert and sister-in-law Donna Clark of Valliant, OK, sister Patsy and borther-in-law Joe Griffith of Henderson, TX, sister Annette and brother-in-law Hank Stanfield of Buna, TX, and sister Norene Odom of Kirbyville, TX, and a host of friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Edgar Clark, Sr., mother Dorothy Ducleon, and sister Sarah Lynn Powell.
A celebration of his life is scheduled for 10:00am, June 23, 2020, at Green Chapel Assembly of God in Wright City, OK. All friends and family are invited to attend and share written memories at the door. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sherry Clark.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm, June 22, 2020, at Brumley Funeral Home.
