Eastman "Ray" Jessie

February 20, 2021

Eastman “Ray” Jessie, age 65, of Oak Hill, went to his eternal home February 20, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  Ray was born August 5, 1955 to James Jessie and Ruby (Lewis) Jessie in Idabel, OK.  He lived most of his life in McCurtain County after moving back from Tulsa.

Ray married Reda Noah on January 1, 2000 at Tohwali United Methodist Church.

Ray was the current Pastor of White Sands Church in Valliant.  He loved serving the Lord and spending time with his grandkids.  Ray had many hobbies that he enjoyed.  He loved to go to singings, fishing and enjoyed sports.  Ray’s favorite things to watch on television were wrestling, Gun Smoke, and OU football.

Ray was born again with Jesus Christ at Oklahoma State Tech in 1986 after his mother’s death.  He attended Fundament Baptist Church with Pastor John Harjo.  After school, Ray moved to Tulsa where he attended New Life Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Foreman, until the church closed in 1979.  Ray was in and out of church until 1997.  He then joined Tohwali United Methodist Church and began serving God again.  In 1998, Ray received his call to serve as a local lay speaker.  He began preaching twice a month at Tohwali UMC and then in other churches in the southeast conference.  Ray also preached at St. Paul Church in Talihina, Sulphur Springs Church in Bennington and Friendship Baptist Church in Idabel.  In November of 2009, Ray became the lay missionary at Bok Chito.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Jessie; sister, Juanita Calvillo; aunt, Isabel Gibson; and uncles, Emerson Lewis and David Lewis.

Ray leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Reda Jessie, of the home; his children, Anthony Noah (wife, Melissa) of Holly Creek, Ronnie Tom (wife, Chrystal) of Poteau, Faith Jessie, of Broken Bow, Mary Coley, of Red Oak, Gene Tom and James Jessie, both of Broken Bow, Wayne Tom (wife, Zanna) of Broken Bow, Stacy Nixon (husband, James) of Tulsa, Jeremiah Tom (fiancé, Dayla) of Broken Bow; twenty three grandchildren, Trenton, Jacob, Kaylee, Tristan, Amos, Alicea, Miko, Malachi, Danika, Kayedence, Kristopher, Aidan, Micah, Madison, MaKyna, Traison, Rilynn, Randall, Milena, Haidyn, William, Daxton, Aaron and Preston; brother, Jimmie Jessie (wife, Lynda); sisters, Ann Noah, Audrey Gonzalez, and Janet Hicks (husband, Dewayne) all of Broken Bow; aunt, Ella Going, of Broken Bow; special friend, Isaac Battiest Jr., of Broken Bow; as well as many other family and friends.
