Okemah Diann Wagnon, of Wright City, passed from this life January 15, 2021 at the age of 70 surrounded by her loving family and friends at her home. Diann was born September 24, 1950 to J.R. Claborn, Jr. and Faye (Reed) Claborn in DeQueen, AR.
Diann was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Wright City and her Christian principles guided her life. An accomplished artist, Diann worked in multi-media, creating art works to be found all over McCurtain County. A graduate of Evangel University, Diann spent her teaching career at Wright City, introducing students to the world of art and encouraging their many artistic endeavors. At the same time, she assisted fellow-teachers with their creative efforts. For years, she has created backgrounds, props and decorations for prom, drama, homecoming and other special occasions. Diann traveled the world, never growing weary of new adventures. She used those adventures to encourage others to step out of their comfort zone and experience new things. She will be greatly missed by her travel buddies. Diann was a life-long dog lover and leaves behind Toby, who will greatly miss her. Diann once said, “It’s okay to fail at something; it’s not acceptable to avoid something because you might fail.” That is the way she lived her life.
Diann was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents.
Diann leaves to cherish her memory, her loving parents, J. R. and Faye, of Wright City; son, David Jake Wagnon, of Kentucky; granddaughter, Daphanie Wagnon, of Baytown, Texas; one great-grandchild; special friends, Tammy Watkins, of the Oak Hill Community, and Donna and Jerry Barnes, of Colorado; along with a host of cousins, and other relatives and friends.
