Clinton B. James

Clinton Brian James of Durant, OK passed from this life on June 12, 2021, in Ft. Smith, AR. He was 52 years old. He was born on September 29, 1968, in Talihina, OK to Joseph and Shirley (Dwight) James.

He grew up playing baseball, football, and basketball in summer leagues as well as in high school. He enjoyed fishing, cookouts, and his hobby was researching various subjects.

From 1987 to 1991, Clinton served in the US Army as a Petroleum Supply Specialist. In 1996, he graduated from Haskell Indian Nation University, and went on to graduate from the University of Kansas in Spring 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biodiversity and Systematics.

Clinton was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Frank and Florence James; and maternal grandparents, Norman Dwight and Marilyn Colbert.

He is survived by his daughter, Alyssa James of Mesa, AZ; sisters, Annette Wilson (husband, Ron) of Oklahoma City, OK, Angela James (significant other, Ryan Ward) of Broken Bow, OK, and Cheryl Wright (husband, Cody) of Broken Bow, OK; nephews, Dickie Bond of Bethel, OK, Tristan Meier of Sherman, TX, Marcos Noah, Jr. of Broken Bow, OK, Philip Noah of Broken Bow, OK and Brinton Hudson of Broken Bow, OK; nieces, Andrea James of Idabel, OK and Arionna Hudson of Broken Bow, OK; great-nieces, Erin Noah of Texarkana, TX and Alexandria James of Oklahoma City, OK; great great-niece, Haven Luster of Texarkana, TX; and best friend, Angie Williston of Durant, OK. Clinton asked that his obituary include a message to Angie: “Angie, thank you for all that you did for me. You’re my best friend.”

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Bow, OK

Interment will follow at the Kulli Chito Cemetery in Broken Bow, OK.

A Viewing for family and friends will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, also at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel.
