Obituary

Charles Edward Cunningham, 88, passed away November 10, 2020 at the Muskogee Veterans Hospital.  Charles was born March 15, 1932 in Ashdown, AR, to Homer Luck and Frances Lucille (Terry) Cunningham.

Charles was a member of the Broken Bow Church of God and had lived in McCurtain County for the last 60 years.  Charles was proud to have served in the United States Army during the Korean era and had received the Purple Heart Award.  Charles retired from working construction for Babcock and Wilcox. 

Charles enjoyed playing dominoes and had been a world champion at one time.  Charles enjoyed his friends at the Senior Citizen Center and playing bingo with them.  He could always be found on his tractor, working his farm, and raising cattle.  Charles was an avid OU Sooners fan and loved most all sports.

Charles married the love of his life Dollie Eason on May 26, 1951 in Reno, NV.  They enjoyed going to church together and having their family near them.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Frances Cunningham; daughter, Sharon Lamkin; grandson, Justin Lemuel Richards; sister, Francis Elizabeth “Tootsie” Willis; and son-in-law, Fred Roberts.

Charles is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dollie, of the home; sons, Charles Ricky Cunningham, and wife, Sherry, of Golden, and Tony Edward Cunningham, and wife, Misty, of Golden; daughters, Rita Brewer, and husband, Bobby, of Mounds, OK, Debbie Roberts, of Purcell, OK, and Barbie White, and husband, Buster, of McAlester, OK; sisters, Mary Ruth Phillips, of Valliant, Betty Jo Debuc, of McAlester, Wanda Deramus, of Mena, AR, and Charlene Shaddon, of Waldron, AR; grandchildren, Amy Batchelor, Sarah Doolittle, Brent Brewer, Bridget Curtis, Jason Lamkin, Alex Lamkin, Lacie Cunningham, Macee Atchley, Jase Cunningham, Presley Cunningham, Jimma Snead, Michael White, Charlie Denton, and Eric Denton; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, November 16, 2020 at 2:00PM at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Wayne Freeman and Pastor Paul Hartley officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 15, 2020 from 2-4PM also at the funeral home.
