Birtie Dickerson, 92, of Eagletown, OK, passed from this life surrounded by her loving family at her residence. Birtie was born August 12, 1928, in Petty, TX, to Sylvester Calvin and Olla Bell (Shoemaker) Thweatt.
Birtie was of the Pentecostal Faith and had lived in McCurtain County for the past 55 years. She enjoyed gardening and her red rose bushes. Birtie was known to spoil her grandchildren and she raised her own children by herself. She was known as an independent woman but very opinionated. If she thought it, she said it.
Birtie married the love of her life, Troy Cleve Dickerson, in Texas. They had been married 58 years until his passing in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleve Dickerson; parents, Sylvester and Olla Bell Thweatt; son, Wayne Dickerson; daughter, Betty Jean Vinson; and her brothers and sisters.
Birtie leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Troy Dickerson, of Eagletown, Rebecca Hill, of Eagletown, Pat Walls, and husband, Carl, of Broken Bow, Vickie Young, of Eagletown, Jimmy (Bo) Dickerson, and wife, Betty, of Broken Bow, and Rusty Dickerson, and wife, Lora, of Lockesburg, AR; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 20 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives, friends, including her caretaker, Leah Foley, Eagletown. The family would also like to send a sincere thank you and appreciation to Mays Hospice.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at 10AM at the Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, with Pete Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, October 26, 2020, from 6-8PM also at the funeral home chapel.
