Billy James Kellum, age 75, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma died on Friday, June 11, 2021, at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. He was born on Friday, October 24, 1945, to Anne Mae “Mabel” Richard Cooper in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
Billy served his country honorably in the United States Army serving in 2 tours of duty in Vietnam War. After his service, he worked in as a civilian at the Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City for 20 years as a load planner for the AWAC Aircraft. He also served as a Union Steward during his time there. Billy was immensely proud of both his military career and working at Tinker Air Force Base. Billy’s other love was cooking. He loved to barbeque with friends and family and teach others how to smoke briskets and ribs at every opportunity. Billy was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Louie Cooper.
Billy is survived by his three children Kevin Kellum of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sonya (Kellum) Ambrosia and husband, Michael of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Tanisha Kellum of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two brothers, Kenneth Cooper of Fort Defiance, Arizona and Vic Cooper of Kansas City, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are entrusted to the Brumley Funeral Home in Broken Bow.
Internment will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery.
